Vintage Badge in Illustrator and Photoshop

It's been more than two weeks since I've finally moved permanently to California, USA.

Before the big move I was playing with Illustrator and Photoshop to create a vintage look badge. After a few hours trying different typefaces I got a nice result and published it on myDribbble profile.

I have received quite a few emails since I published that asking me how I did the effect, so in this tutorial I will show you how to create a vintage look badge using Illustrator and Photoshop

Creating an icon in Fireworks

Adobe Fireworks is a familiar tool to a significant subset of web developers. There are many reasons for this. In addition to the benefits of integrating with Dreamweaver, Fireworks has an easy-to-use interface and includes a wide array of web-focused features. The image creation, slicing, and optimization tools make Fireworks extremely useful for both beginning and advanced users alike.

Because graphic elements are fundamental to high-quality web design, they require extra attention. Web icons—the basic ingredients of any well-designed site—have a special place in this group. Creating icons with Fireworks is easy, and it is also a really productive way to create your site files. This article provides a step-by-step guide to creating a folder icon in Fireworks.

Handdrawn Swooshes

Lately I’ve been playing around with hand drawn type for a couple of personal projects. I’ve always liked drawing type, and I’ve been practicing more lately.

For one of the pieces, I was adding some ’swooshes’ to the type, and I thought I’d expand it and make it a free vector pack for yall. So here it is!

They’re great to use for embellishing type, and have plenty of other uses.

I’m including a preview below. Enjoy!
